Hi Barbara! I think that you have captured the melody in making, by concentrating in the essential. I can see strings vibrate under the guitarist's fingers. - I wonder if an even more intensive approach would work, with cropping off a bit off the bottom edge increasing the vignette so that the effect would be like a spotlight on the magic hands?   Posted: 07/08/2025 08:42:54
Thanks for your input Kirsti. I usually apply vignettes to create a natural framing effect. I appreciate you sharing an alternative approach to enhancing the image.   Posted: 07/10/2025 13:36:10
Hi Barbara - this photo works for me as is. I especially like the way the muscles in the musician's hands are emphasized. I would not have thought there would be that much muscle tension in playing the guitar but the photo does a great show of showing that detail.
Really nice photo!   Posted: 07/09/2025 21:10:23

Thanks so much Robert.   Posted: 07/10/2025 13:40:24
The technique and the near far composition (between the hands) is a good start. I would (were it my picture) try different crops--for example just the hands and enough of the instrument so that it is identifiablbe   Posted: 07/15/2025 02:07:38
Thanks for your feedback Al. Showcasing just the hands is a good idea and I will try it with a few other unedited photos I have. Thanks!   Posted: 07/26/2025 15:00:34
Hi Barbara, normally I would have preferred to see the guitarist's face. However in your original and also the conversion the focus is on the guitar and his hands - to my eye it works well in both. The detail is great. Also cropping the left side of the image to remove the extraneous items worked well for me as well.
I like what Kirsti did with her version, but prefer your choice for the vignette as your version opens up the image more.
A great choice of subject and processing. Thank you for sharing it with us.   Posted: 07/19/2025 01:56:41
