About the Image(s)

This photo was taken at a fishing dock in Folly Beach, SC. Since the sky was overcast and uninspiring, I replaced it in PS using a sky image from my personal library to give the image an eerie atmosphere. I converted the photo to B/W using Silver Efex and added a stroke. ISO 1000, 500mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, Canon R5, 100-500mm lens, tripod mounted.

Hi Barbara, I love the image so much! The original captures a perfect moment, and I think that the new sky really creates a very special mood and elevates the birds almost to a mythical status. The clouds frame them very effectively.   Posted: 05/07/2025 17:22:01

Hi Barbara - What an impactful image you created with your conversion. To me, there's so much energy in this shot with the clouds and the positions of the birds' wings. You also caught the front bird in a very emotive pose. We viewers don't know what is attracting that bird's attention, but that doesn't stop us from imagining what might be going on. Well done all around!   Posted: 05/07/2025 22:33:39

I love how you went from the original to the final version - what a difference. The sky is very dynamic and adds drama to the scene. And your work on the eye of the main bird really jumps in the photo. And I also love the black face of the bird contrasting against its white body.
And I think the framing is perfect.
Another excellent photo.
