Hi Al. Based on the photos I've seen of Iceland (never been), the country showcases some of the most dramatic landscapes. I appreciate your positioning for this shot as it effectively captures the scene. The melting glacier serves as a nice leading line that draws my eye into the frame. Well done. However, I'm not sure if the horizon line in the center truly benefits the composition. The foreground and middle ground seem to dominate my attention when I look at the photo. In post, I feel the image crunchiness detracts from its beauty and overall impact. Given the landscape's raw and rugged texture, I wonder if applying selective sharpening and contrast might help with a more subtle tonal gradation. Great work overall.   Posted: 01/14/2025 19:12:27

Barbara,
thanks so much for your thoughtful comments. I don't know which line is the horizon. Iceland provides very varied, rugged, bizarre landscapes. They are in constant change. I tried to capture the variety, fierceness and visually enchanting vistas that give the word beautifula meaning that may not include pretty   Posted: 01/14/2025 21:50:23

Hi Al - I You've certainly captured an impressive multi-layered landscape with this shot! My only suggestion would to consider slightly increasing the exposure on the foreground. That change feels like it may increase the impact of the image as the leading lines of the glacier melt would be slightly more predominant. Also, there is a small light gray perfect circle in the sky, down just a bit from the top about 1/4 of the way into the frame from the left side. I'm not sure what that is.   Posted: 01/19/2025 20:21:05

Good evening Albert, I like your composition in this image. I like the appearance of both the mountains and the sky both of which give the image, to my eye, a dramatic appearance.
However I find the foreground being so dark unsettling, almost like you were trying to create a silhouette leaving, for me, a dynamic tension between two images - one very dark and the other very dramatic. I would have liked to see the original - was the foreground that dark?
Thank you for sharing it with us Al.

Hi Al, I join the others: your Iceland images offer one gorgeous dramatic scenery after another. It would be lovely to see some more details in the foreground.   Posted: 01/20/2025 16:36:01
