Three Yellow Flowers by Phyllis Peterson

July 2024 - Three Yellow Flowers

About the Image(s)

This photo was taken at the Phoenix Botanical Garden on a sunny day in April, 2024.

I always like to take photos of flowers when I see them in threes (grouping of 3)
This group of cactus flowers was backlit, which I also like.

I like your vision of capturing three backlit flowers with strong rim lighting around the cacti. However, I'm wondering if the image could be stronger if you darken all the bright areas in the background.

Maybe something like this.   Posted: 07/03/2024 19:03:37

Your compoition with three is strong and I love the backlight which really lights up the yellow flowers. I agree with David about darkening the background and I alo suggest that you lighten the catus too. I like that you got down to a low angle to shot this.   Posted: 07/05/2024 14:17:39

woot, I like the backlighted one! like the composition, likes the lines and lighted area. I'm not state what's already commented.

Didn't see any meta details, but I'm not sure if H/L over-exposed that yellow flower petals lack some details, just from my view.   Posted: 07/07/2024 16:10:41

It is interesting to see that the flowers can be taken by the backlit and with strong rim lighting around the cactus. The flowers were already very bright. Thus I feel the background is fine to keep to be blurred.
