About the Image(s)
I am doing a project on rural church architecture and this is one that I may use. It was taken at the village of Ellerburn in Yorkshire. I removed some obvious distractions, straightened the image and made levels and saturation adjustments to various areas. The original image was taken at 1/125 sec, f8, ISO200.

Your post processing is very natural looking including your enhanced sky. You might want to color the spaces in the cross as the white doesn't look natural.   Posted: 11/11/2025 00:34:53
Well spotted. When I isolated the sky to bring out more detail I should have included the centre of the cross because it was simply a steel skeleton.   Posted: 11/11/2025 14:48:18
yeh, similar thing shows up around the tree-sky interacted area, both left and right side of the structure.   Posted: 11/14/2025 19:10:25

Following up on what Charlie said, Scott Kelby did a Zoom presentation for our Guild about 3 years ago, where he showed us a technique to make all those places where the original background shows through trees/branches/etc look natural. Like most tips you don't use much, I have long since forgotten HOW to do it. If I can find the video of that meeting (Scott might not have agreed to have it recorded), I will share it.   Posted: 11/15/2025 03:56:10
Thanks everyone for your comments. I have been researching ways of making a better selection around the trees and came across making a selection using Colour Range then refining the edge with the Refine Edge tool and finally bringing out more detail in the sky using a Curves adjustment. This is the result.   Posted: 11/20/2025 11:46:59
The architecture is surrounded by green trees and dotted with yellow wildflowers creating a tranquil and historically rich atmosphere. The church entrance is the clear focal point. However I feel that the composition is somewhat centered and lacks a sense of depth or dynamic.   Posted: 11/22/2025 08:38:27
