This photo was taken in the recent trip to Portugal, Lisbon. We were walking from the old town area (Alfama) to downtown center area, while on the same time looking for materials for our photo and painting elements. So along the way, just taking photos with my cell phone, which is great way to walk and snap a view.
Most unusual and interesting part of the walk, was that the old building, brick road way, Electric trolly tram rails, narrow streets. lines and elevations, which is quite different than the flat and boring uniform like scenery in midwest, especially in Chicago area. Every turn and view, shows different possibilities.

You captured a pleasant street scene with the Lisbon castle. However, I'm not sure what your intention was. Did you want to include the people, car and signs to show context? If not, Lightroom and Photoshop have some wonderful tools that can easily select and remove them as well as the wires above.   Posted: 07/02/2025 13:53:56

As I mentioned earlier, the trip photos was more for the painting references, which leads to my new hobby of sketches, and oil painting. And I'm sorry, In a hurry, I attacbed the unclean-up image for this month, the clean up one, look more like Cindy's inclusion. However, I thank you for the input, David, Cindy.   Posted: 07/06/2025 20:12:08

I agree with David that there are too many distractions around your main subject. I like the road which curves leading up to the castle. I removed the wires in the sky, straigthened the yellow building and removed the sign and two people in the foreground. I also tried to put a little more contrast in the sky.   Posted: 07/02/2025 16:35:03

I take Charlie's point about submitting the uncleaned-up image and will comment on Cindy's version which is closer to what Charlie intended. I would have removed all the overhead cables. By straightening the converging verticals the main building in the distance has been flattened. I struggle with this in my architectural images and have found that the Skew tool often does a better job that the Perspective tool. What do other members use and is there a way to straighten converging verticals without flattening the image?   Posted: 07/07/2025 23:45:37

I always use the skew tool.   Posted: 07/08/2025 14:45:05
