About the Image(s)

I took this with my iPhone at the Orchid Show at the MO Botanical garden. I took it into Photoshop, cropped it, removed the stick, significantly darkened the background (using Topaz AI to isolate the background)and adjusted the details, clarity, contrast and exposure.

Another excellent orchid image! Your post processing to darken the background and eliminate the stick really brings attention to the orchid itself. The orchid is in nice, sharp focus. If I were to make any suggestions, it would be to brighten the yellow in the orchid's top three petals. They seem a tad dingy.   Posted: 07/02/2025 13:46:36

Thanks. I lightened them some but they are not the same color as the main flower. What do you think now?   Posted: 07/02/2025 16:25:32

I would lighten the yellow parts of the petals even more. I went into Lightroom and used the brush to select only the yellow portions of the upper three petals. I also brushed in the top yellow portion of the two lower petals and increased the saturation in those masked yellow areas.   Posted: 07/02/2025 19:17:33

Thank you, David. Your edits really make it pop from the background.   Posted: 07/02/2025 19:53:16

A very good image of the orchid which has been improved by your response to David's suggestion. It stands out beautifully from the background but we see enough of the background to locate the flower, which I like to see.   Posted: 07/08/2025 00:16:28
