About the Image(s)
This hellebore was one of the first flowers to grow in my garden. It was cold and windy outside, so I cut the flower and brought it inside to shoot using two tungsten lights behind diffusion paper. I focus-bracketed the shot manually shooting 15 images using a Nikon Zf camera and Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 lens. I combined the stacked images in Helicon Focus and edited the image in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Another excellent image to follow on from last month (how did that one do in the competition?). The focus stacking has made the flower pin sharp and the red of the petals stand out beautifully from the clear black background. I notice that you and members of another group that I am in use Helicon Focus for stacking. I only have Photoshop, is Helicon better?   Posted: 04/02/2025 23:24:44
Funny you should ask. I just now came back from the competition on Negative Space in which I submitted my Glass of Red Wine image. I got an honorable mention.
I use Photoshop for photo stacking if I have only a few stacked images. But for 10 or more images, Photoshop is too slow. Helicon Focus can stack 50 images quickly provided you have a decent amount of RAM.   Posted: 04/03/2025 02:15:44
