About the Image(s)
Camera: Nikon Z 7, lens: 24-200 mm
Settings: 8.0 seconds at f/5.6, ISO 1600,
Used a tripod, no flash, light-painting.
The Cactus Shoppe is located in a village in Goldfield, AZ.
The buildings are historic and are currently operational.
I used lights, strategically placed to light certain locations on the building site.
I used a long exposure because I was photographing in the evening and I needed
a tripod to do that.
I edited the photo in Lightroom using masks to reduce exposure in some areas
and increase exposure in other areas.

This cactus shop building has a lot of character and a lot of interesting details. I'm not too keen on the tattoo sign on the right side as it makes the scene look quite touristy. Maybe you can clone or crop it out. Because the image is so yellowish, it might be better to convert it to B&W. I took a stab at it. What do you think?   Posted: 03/10/2025 05:27:55
A lot of elements to take in, but the mood is interesting. like it.

I find pictures of old buildings very appealing and I like the atmosphere of this shot. Was the strong yellow cast what you actually saw when you took the image? I may be tempted to desaturate the yellows a little and remove or change the colour of the pot in front of the shop. David's conversion to B&W is interesting but there isn't strong enough definition between the colours to make it a crisp conversion. For me it is an enjoyable image that could be made better with a bit more work in post processing.   Posted: 03/21/2025 19:19:25
Your focus is very good and the details are so nice. A great scene with lots to look at. I like the perspective and where you placed yourself to take the shot. The strong yellow cast distracts a little from this image so I toned down the yellow just a little, keeping the color.   Posted: 03/28/2025 15:07:52
The overall composition is excellent, using light and shadow and architectural elements to create a nostalgic and mysterious atmosphere. I think that the brightness and contrast can be adjusted appropriately to make the overall picture more balanced to increase the sharpness of some local details.   Posted: 03/30/2025 11:27:12
