About the Image(s)
shot in summer part of my trip in Alaska, a wild life refuge around Anchorage, sun is out, walking through the area, see this and can't help take a shot, it was not as well as I like to frame it, but the caribu, first encounter for me, actually moves around pretty quick for its size.
1/500s, f/8, iso 400, @493mm of 600mm lens, come exp -0.7, still felt it's harsh for Alaska sunset.
Post: crop, Topaz AI, denoise, and dodge burn a few spots, and curved a bit to high-light the moose.

Happy new year, Charlie! I've never seen a caribou before much less gotten a shot of one. So I compliment you for getting this shot. I like the simple background with no distractions. The lighting is a bit harsh. I might try darkening the bright areas on the caribou and lightening its face around the eyes a wee bit.   Posted: 01/02/2025 13:26:08

Happy New Year, David. Yeh, was surprised and elated, and keep to say to myself, "don't screw this one up!", haha, but nature is just what it is.
Thanks for the input, I'll have to give it a shot.   Posted: 01/03/2025 02:40:15

You caught a good shot of him. I like the shadow in the grass and that you left room for him to wander into. A little more light around the eye (which appears well in focus) might do the trick.   Posted: 01/04/2025 17:16:39

The lighting is good and the caribou stands out well from the background. I think a little lightening around its face would be an improvement. A pleasant shot to remember your visit to Alaska.   Posted: 01/19/2025 11:18:09
