About the Image(s)

Back to 2018 once again, was a good year for photography. This was just across the border into Austria after a trip down to Garmisch-Partenkirchen Germany after working in Stuttgart for the week. This is a 5 shot HDR merge in LR and the initial adjustments were made in LR to control shadows and highlights mostly. Into PS for a crop and removal of a couple of annoying elements. Then back to work on the clouds for a couple of bright spots. Those darker spots were there in the original darker photo, should those be corrected?

You have a Dynamic cloud pattern that makes this picture work. The dark areas might need some lighting even though they do show some detail. I would like to see more. I used only a slight amount of shadow/highlight. After doing this image it seems I didn't change much. Regardless, Too much light sort of takes away the darkness of the storm. After doing this I feel yours is Ok.   Posted: 09/13/2023 21:02:27

What a beautiful pastoral scene! I feel like the storm has passed and the sun is coming. I don't know that I would change anything.   Posted: 09/14/2023 08:02:36

Very nice. Your work on the clouds is excellent. I appreciate what Max was talking about, but feel that having the lighting as you do, leads my eye through the scene to the lit clouds in the distance. They are my anchor and everything else supports that.   Posted: 09/16/2023 13:38:36

Sorry Brad, but I feel the scene needs to be lightened somewhat so we can see the detail in the mountains as we4ll as the foreground trees. I like Max's version better but would still lighten it a little more. This should be possible given you bracketed 5 images here, perhaps better with an application like Nik or Aurora HDR.   Posted: 09/18/2023 10:13:32

Sounds likea great trip!

I love the clouds and the composition, but to me it needed another stop or two to allow more detail in the shadows. Or crop to create more emphasis on the lit mountain.   Posted: 09/25/2023 12:20:53

The cropped version allows the emphasis on the lit mountain and places it in a power place.
This version keeps your pano dimensions, just more details in the right mt   Posted: 09/25/2023 12:22:09

The crop is interesting and I like it more than boosting the shadows.   Posted: 09/25/2023 13:11:01
