About the Image(s)

This is a work in progress. I have a folding box that I use for photos. It is about 2.5 feet by 3 feet.
I used a glass sphere. I used a string of lights under the sphere. I placed a textured cloth over
the lights. I put a some blue textured material that came a packing behind the sphere. I used
some light painting too. I used negative EV to drop the exposure. The two stars were there because of the
f 16. I made them brighter with Topaz Star Effects.
F 16, 1/5th second. ISO 100. Pentax K – 3 III. Pentax 50 mm f 1.4 lens.

Mark, I find myself coming back to this often to try to understand what it is. A perfect abstraction, I notice something more each time. I think it was certainly worth the time and complexity of the shot. There seems to be movement and mystery. I asked my wife if it did anything for her and she said no. That means it is an excellent abstraction!   Posted: 09/18/2023 17:48:11

Thank you. I am experimenting with refracted light.   Posted: 09/19/2023 12:58:27

Very nice creative shot Mark. You have a lot going on here and there is so much to look at. I really like the circular effects within the sphere. Must be from the blue plastic you mention. It gives it depth and also lets me know it has a smooth surface--interesting. It is quite obvious you put a lot of thought and time in this shot and it came out very well. Abstracts are not for everyone, but everyone should be able to apricate the work and vision of the artist. I like it! Nice Work.   Posted: 09/24/2023 18:05:28

My first thought when I saw this image was,"Is this what my eye Dr. see when she uses that light to look into my eye?". As an abstraction, It is an intriguing image and the color and lighting are the image. The image is sharp and for me well composed. I might suggest experimenting with different shutter speeds and making a composite. Fun image, wonderful as is and also lots of room for experiments.   Posted: 09/26/2023 11:05:44

I really like what you're doing with this image, Mark. The colors, the contrast, the textures all pop. I love the starburst effect you've used in the sphere. It really adds an element to the whole feel. The different textures reflected in the sphere really set the scene. The only suggestion I would make is to give a little room at the bottom of the frame. I know the fabric at the bottom of the box is covering the sphere, but my brain continues the circle along the outside, whether it's visible or not. Work in progress or not, this is a wonderful image!   Posted: 09/27/2023 11:44:01
