This is a fine detailed picture that comes out looking find. You did a good job from the light out of the lantern-look, likely glass. I do the same most of the time for creating a nice image. The patterns and setup makes a fine image.   Posted: 04/06/2026 17:14:10

Very unique image. Love the pattern of the original lantern. Took me a minute to figure out why no lines in the reflection, guessing only the bottom row is getting light from the candle, projecting the white lines from each opening along the bottom row.   Posted: 04/11/2026 02:15:07
Kathy it may be all the openings. I am not sure.   Posted: 04/11/2026 04:57:10
You are turning into the master of Still Life Mark.
I really like this image, repeating patterns are somehow soothing. While the lamp with its interesting cut out openings and soft candle light is the subject it is producing, for us, a wonderful pattern of light and dark. That pattern is not only leading the eye toward the subject in all directions it has its own depth with the dark and light stripe pattern. Your exposure and composition is just right and I like the square framing. Nice find, or should I say nice eye!   Posted: 04/12/2026 18:27:00

I really like how this came out, Mark. The light on the table top really acts as leading lines to bring your attention into the middle of the frame and into the subject. There is detail in the shadows as well as the highlights. You nailed the exposure. The color palette is wonderful and gives a warm, pleasing cast. The repeating pattern in the lantern is a great compositional element. I also really like the black background. It makes the subject stand out and doesn't compete with what we should be looking at. Nice work!   Posted: 04/13/2026 16:12:41
Thank you Andrew. I found that lantern in a thrift shop.   Posted: 04/13/2026 17:10:46
