About the Image(s)
This was a yellow poppy and salvia shot in my garden with EM-1 f/8 ISO 500 61mm. Used a white pasteboard background and diffuser , both to guard from wind. Processed in LRC.

Pretty, but seems a little too cluttered. The white background seems distracting.   Posted: 07/20/2025 20:54:18
As a native Californian, the subject matter certainly caught my eye. The colors and texture are well handled in the flowers. Part of me likes the simplicity of the background, but part of me agrees with Harley that it seems out of place. Interesting composition, Lane.   Posted: 07/22/2025 02:29:50
First, I am more than ok with the white background. It really sets off the flowers in a bold way. There are three subjects, which is perfect. Basically there are two leading lines that take the eye to the poppy. (Maybe get rid olf the leaf directly below the poppy?). This fun to look at! It would be great on a wall in a sunroom! It would be interesting to use a painting effect on this. This is the Van Gogh version of your photo, Georgia O'Keeffe was good too as well as a Turner sunset.   Posted: 07/22/2025 18:04:55
Nice composition on this one Lane. I like how the yellow poppy is set off and framed with the purple salvia. Using the white background (I use white and black in the same way myself) eliminated any distractions which, I am sure, were present in the garden making the poppy the star. I feel the beauty of this image is in its subtly. When I first looked at your image I thought this could be a note card or a wall hanger. Very nice.   Posted: 07/23/2025 14:38:33
This is a very beautiful and painterly looking photo of flowers. I also like the 2 leading lines by the blue flowers.   Posted: 07/24/2025 13:49:09
