I just returned from a three-week visit to Scotland, nearly two of which were spent aboard a 150-passenger ship exploring the islands. My goal was to capture images of birds in flight and submit one for this month’s Digital Dialogue. But several factors conspired against me: high winds and rough seas prevented at least one landing, overcast skies made everything look flat and dull, and there were noticeably fewer birds due to avian flu and climate change.
Of the 966 images I captured, none met my criteria for submission. Still determined to find something from this extraordinary trip, I turned to a photo I took with my iPhone??”one of the many flower images I captured during my journey. I selected this image of a Kashmir White Geranium, then applied an artistic crop and adjusted the colors to make them pop. While not what I originally intended to submit, it’s a quiet reflection of a beautiful and memorable journey.

Beautiful, delicate and almoost surreal well placed stamen. the dew or raindrops on the petals are so Scotland as I remember it. Too bad about 966 lemons but looks like you got the lemonade   Posted: 07/20/2025 18:18:37

I love how you handled this, Bunny. The colors really pop, and the image is tack-sharp. The water droplets and parts of the flower are really well rendered. The soft colors work together and give this image a lot of impact.   Posted: 07/22/2025 02:23:59

How many times do we set out with a predetermined photo goal and it doesn't work out? That is when looking up and looking down comes in handy! This perect composition and subtle color!
This is delicate and precise. Wonderful leading lines and even water drops! I have tried to come up with a pun using "anther' and "filament". Alas, it is not meant to be.   Posted: 07/22/2025 17:52:00

A pun? What a challenge. I asked ChatGPT to write one:
"Their love blossomed with such spark-it was more than a filament-ary connection, and he was always there to anther her every need."   Posted: 07/22/2025 18:10:59

Darn, why didn't I think of that! :)   Posted: 07/22/2025 23:33:02

I'd love to hear other puns that come to mind!   Posted: 07/23/2025 02:47:52

Beautiful shot Bunny. The colors are so soft and delicate just like the Geranium. Your crop is, in my opinion, just right. You are showing off the most beautiful part of the flower and your image is tack sharp to boot. Of course the water drops add to the image in a big way providing interest and feeling. Glad you found at least one winner from your trip and thanks for sharing it with us.   Posted: 07/23/2025 14:31:00

Wonderful leading lines and beautiful water drops! I think your crop has successfully made the viewer to concentrate on the centre of the flower. Good job!   Posted: 07/24/2025 13:45:56
