About the Image(s)
OM -1 ISO 400,140mm,5.6 1/125sec. This was ice on a hydrangea bush shot through a window. I masked it and removed a lot of the branches in the background in PS an then processed it in camera raw, replacing the background.

The idea is good but I think the branches seem too taken out of context and in disarray. I cannot tell what you are trying to say. Maybe it is just me but will await other critiques, which may give a different perspective.   Posted: 03/10/2025 11:32:20
Hi Harvey,
They look like ice dancers to me and a fun image. That's ok that you didn't get it. Maybe next time!   Posted: 03/23/2025 13:55:10

Interesting winter shot Lane. I think the image blends in too much with the background of the page here. A thin white border might give a sense of place and let my eye know where to look. This works on black, but did you try other colors as a background? While the black does give maximum contrast, you might get a similar effect with a subtle color too, while complimenting the stems and branches.   Posted: 03/22/2025 18:40:56
Thanks, I did try different backgrounds and ended up liking the black. I do like your suggestion of the white boarder which I will try. L   Posted: 03/23/2025 13:57:17
Hi Lane,
I'm glad you mentioned this is ice because at first glance, I interpreted the ice as artifacts from masking. My eye wanders and can't find a focal point. I agree with Harley that the branches seem in disarray. Have you tried a version with the bush?   Posted: 03/24/2025 16:44:07
