About the Image(s)
Back to the Barn was shot on a very cold winter afternoon with a Canon Mark III ISO 400, f/11/ ,1/100secs.23mm. I was trying to convey a cold afternoon with a promise of a warm barn not too far away.

Hi Lane,
You succeeded in conveying a beautiful, but cold, winter day. The barn is a welcome sight. I would be walking as fast as I could, with the hope I'd find a hot drink in that barn.
You might want to consider making the barn pop a bit more by adjusting shadows.   Posted: 12/11/2024 18:26:40

I also can feel the cold - BRRR. the sky has some clouds in an interesting pattern. I tried shifting to B&W and flipping and cropping. I think the elements in the shot are doable but the angles are off. The road is too straight back and there is no separation of the building structure. Of course to get the right angle you would need to go into that snowy field or use a drone. Both would be difficuldt in the cold weather.   Posted: 12/15/2024 22:53:52

Hi Lane, I like the beautiful cloud, snow and tree and the leading line of the path in the picture. Everything is put in place so well to make this picture so wonderful.   Posted: 12/18/2024 13:31:25

A cold and lonely road for sure. You have captured the essence of winter here. Nice leading line into the shot bringing us to the bare trees on the left with a background of a interesting winter sky. I like that you have kept detail in the trees in the back showing texture even though they are barren now. I like the red barn as I feel it is an important part of your image and feel it is just fine as is. Nice winter image Lane.

Nice work, Lane. Your image really tells a strong story. The road and fence both bring wonderful leading lines to take the viewers' gaze into the frame. I really like how the sky is reflected in the puddle on the ground, giving two patches of the blue which stand out among the white of the snow. The barn, while not overpowering, is certainly visible in the frame and gives us a sense of destination. The lines lead us into the image and the barn provides a center of attention. I like the feeling this scene evokes. The lines of trees in the center of the image also pull the eye to the middle of the frame. There are so many elements that work together here to make a great piece.   Posted: 12/18/2024 18:47:39
