About the Image(s)

Taken with Canon 6D. Shot at f10, 1/800 sec, Iso 4000, 350mm on 150 -600 Tamron lens. I was shooting through a thick cabled barrier for the cage. The cables disappeared with these settings. Used Lightroom and Photoshop to crop and tweak. Topaz AI offered interesting Changes.

Hi Harley,
It is amazing how well capturing image through fences and cables turns out. Very nice capture. I like how you warmed up the lion. It is a very nice portrait shot. You might try cropping in to make a more dramatic portrait, and then possibly adding a small amount of vignette. What do you think?   Posted: 12/06/2024 17:21:18

Well, I think we know who is in charge! I really like this and you did a good job with the wire. I am surprised you could do it at F 10. I would crop a little off the left side of the image. That left paw may be over sharpened. Well done.   Posted: 12/06/2024 21:01:17

Thank you Mark. I do like to keep sharpening but I am calming down on saturation in my later years   Posted: 12/15/2024 22:02:27

Hi Harley, good capture. With no cables and cages in the image, it looks like the photo was taken somewhere else. You may consider to enter this photo in the Nature section of salon.   Posted: 12/18/2024 13:21:13

Nice capture Harley. I can never find the cats awake when I visit the zoo. You have a nice pose here and your processing is working to make the original into a great portrait. I do like the crop Bunny suggested as it eliminates the OOF greenery which, I feel, is a bit of a distraction. This is a very nice shot and I'm not Lion:)   Posted: 12/18/2024 15:31:04

This is a wonderful image of the lion, Harley. I love the energy that comes from the facial expression and body language. The crossed paws are the cherry on the sundae. The only suggestion I have has already been addressed. The leaves on the left side being so bright and out of focus are distracting. Removing them really lets us focus on our friend here. You also did a superb job on removing the fence. If you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have known it was there!   Posted: 12/19/2024 19:15:57
