About the Image(s)
Early Morning Safari, Bandhavgarh National Park, India
The sun was just rising when we reached the park. Our guide stopped for a minute for us to admire the rising mist over a field with white-headed grasses. It was too dark for my Sony camera to capture a photo so I pulled out my iPhone 15 Pro Max. The image wasn’t as colorful as I remember the scene, so I went to work on it using Lightroom and Topaz Studio. My intent was to make it look painterly. I included the “Before” image so you can compare.

Well. This is so improved by your post processing. That could even be a light dusting of snow. The low fog is lovely. That sunrise is dramatic and colorful. The fence is interesting because of the color. I don't feel it keeps me out of the image.   Posted: 12/06/2024 21:04:50

Beautiful Landscape. It fades off in brightness with haziness and perfect DOF. The Image with the bush and fence seem perfectly balanced. Not too much not too little. I think you did it again !   Posted: 12/15/2024 22:25:32

Wow, Bunny. What a great job! You nailed the painterly look. I could see this image on a calendar or greeting card. The mood you've created is magical. You're not far off from the original image you got with your phone, but the changes you made really enhance the mood. The warming up of the sky really helps create an emotion to the scene. The detail in the image remind us this is a photograph. I think you've checked off all of the boxes of creating an artistic piece that showcase your creativity.   Posted: 12/16/2024 16:39:23

Thank you Andrew. Prior to the pandemic, I was a firm believer of capturing the image in the camera and not doing any post processing. But I gradually realized that even the greats like Ansel Adams did quite a bit of post processing in the dark room. So while sequestered at home during the pandemic, I took advantage of all the free post processing workshops and classes that I could. (I even paid for one or two.) While I strive to get it right in the camera, I find it challenging and fun to see what I can do with post processing. Today's AI-powered tools are amazing.   Posted: 12/16/2024 16:55:41

Hi Bunny, after post-processing by Lightroom, the image looks so much different. The sky is no longer dull, but full of colors. The fence and the tree now look more colorful and with a lot of fine details. Good job!   Posted: 12/18/2024 13:37:34

Well Bunny, at first glance it is hard to tell this is a photograph. You have made you image look like an impressionistic painting--it is really beautiful. I just love the softness of the background and the sun warming the clouds brings the eye all the way through your image. The fence is a nice anchor point and the bushy tree a perfect focal point. You have a good, artistic, eye. I love this one.   Posted: 12/18/2024 14:56:54
