About the Image(s)
I had fun creating this image. The bear was taken on a visit to Lake Clark in Alaska. My granddaughter is one of my most favorite models.
I selected the subject fo my granddaughter, then moved her to the bear layer. I used the panorama crop. I finshed with a topaz studio 2 filter of tarnished air. I liked the desaturation.

, The concept is excellent; That bear looks ferocious. Your granddaughter makes a perfect foil for his anger, so soft and pretty. I think if I were her I would be looking to see what the bear is going to do next but the pair make a good contrast and amazing to have them both looking at the camera together. I love the treatment with the desaturation that fits the image perfectly. Posted: 08/07/2026 15:57:16

In reality one would never expect to see such close interaction between these two subjects. It is a pity that there is not more foreground in the bear image as this would have allowed you to place your granddaughter further forward so the bear was looking at her. Perhaps you could enlarge the grass? may be worth a try. Posted: 08/10/2026 16:23:53

Debbie, I love the nostalgic atmosphere you've created with the topaz filter. The juxtaposition of your granddaughter and the bear creates a visual tension that is playful and powerful. It feels a little like a postcard you'd send family with a surreal edge. Posted: 08/16/2026 19:02:26

Your technique is flawless, the result a little surreal but still tells a story. I don't agree that the bear would be best looking at her. It is shyly looking away and lets us make up a story about a girl and her bear, or the bear charmer . . . You are lucky to have such lovely, willing model ( I don't mean the bear). Debbie, I think this is a charming image and does tell a story of perhaps a bear raised by your granddaughter. I like how both of them look towards the camera indicating that they know each other and are posing for a "family photo".
