About the Image(s)

The flower was photographed at night using a torch to light it, in order to isolate it from the background. The young woman’s face comes from a previous portrait session. I overlapped the two images and used a mask to allow the flower to show through. I reduced the opacity of the layer with the face until I felt it looked about right.
I’m looking forward to being part of Group 41.

Robin,
You have doe a nice job combining the flowers with the darkened face of the young girl. I thin hiding her smile behind the flowers helps with the concept. Although the log or whatever it is makes a nice base for the flowers, I suggest removing it and leaving just the stalk and flowers in fllront of the lovely young lady. That part of the image is very bright and may distract a little from the girl hiding behind the forget-me-nots. Nice concept, well handled.   Posted: 12/07/2025 22:02:07

Robin, This image has stuck with me since I first viewed it. I like how the woman's gaze engages me directly while at the same time I sense she is viewing the flower. It mirrors my experience of noticing the flower and the woman. An interesting exploration into the idea of subject/object/observer.   Posted: 12/08/2025 00:49:14

This works well for me because the face and eyes are are softened which adds a sense of wonderment as she gazes at the flower.   Posted: 12/11/2025 17:16:12

Lovely image Robin. I think I would tone down the highlights on the log as they are a bit bright and take away from the flower itself. The face is beautifully done.   Posted: 12/15/2025 21:18:18

I like the concept Robin, it reminds me of not forgetting friends/relatives that you haven't seen for some time. The flower forget me not is very appropriate. You may consider using curves to brighten the woman's eyes a bit more and darkening the flower by setting your brush at by 50% opacity and flow. I would also make a tighter crop by cutting out some of her hair on the left and also a bit from the bottom. This would give the eyes and flower more strength. Nicely done.   Posted: 12/18/2025 09:16:42
