About the Image(s)

Here is an old image I took in Western Australia on an evening out. I
was sipping a glass of white wine when I noticed the light from the
window shining through the glass. The sun was going down and was
reflected on the surface of the glass as well as in the stem. Western
Australia is known as the sunset coast so I thought it would be good to
capture the setting sun in my glass of Aussie wine. I tried to polish
out some of the fingermarks from the top of the glass but didn't
completely succeed. In order to get the sunset into the glass I lifted
it up higher and caught it just as the sun was sinking below the
horizon. There was a small highlight there which I have removed with the
AI Remove tool in Lightroom. I am still worried by the smudges around
the top of the glass but I think that the colours and reflections in the
glass captured the ambience of the moment. It brings back happy memories.

Hazel, This is a very pleasing image. All of the elements come together nicely to create a calming and colorful image that captures the sunset through a different perspective. I don't find the smudges problematic. A cleaner glass may have created a more pristine image but we have to work with what we have in front of us. Nicely done.   Posted: 04/10/2025 10:39:36

Hi Hazel,
Very good job on the reflection, as I think your version seems more realistic. The glass could have been cleaner as per Brad. It seems like it needs something else to tell a story. Like a couple with wine glasses in the background or something.   Posted: 04/13/2025 21:47:01

Hazel, I think you've done a great job in removing the smudge marks, I can't see them. Also the way you have placed the sun setting in the horizon and seen through the wine glass is just lovely and does tell a story of a person watching the sun go down, relaxing and enjoying a nice glass of wine. Well done.   Posted: 04/19/2025 11:31:53

Ah Hazel - it is the MOOD of this glass of wine that is realy captivating. And, of course, the sunset colors anr beautiful. But another thing I particularly like is the suggestion that the entire background (is that a tree line) is up in the glass. It looks like a lake, plus land, plus trees plus sky. Very creative shot.   Posted: 04/25/2025 16:44:45

Thanks Melissa. in the background it is the bushes in the sand dunes across the road with the sea behind.   Posted: 04/26/2025 14:41:48
