About the Image(s)
I was looking at my images of NYC, and saw this building shot. I thought it would be interesting to have skydivers from the air show I shot over the summer trying to land between the buildings. I actually cloned the building on the left and flipped it to give it a more symmetrical look.

Tom, You've created a visually compelling image here. I like your decision to clone the building as the symmetry creates resonance. This is the kind of image which would benefit from a title, although I often enjoy bringing my own story to an image. As I mentioned to you when I saw this at first it reminds me of WWII, I think because of the black and white handling. I did find the mirror image handling of the shadow from the bottom skydiver confusing as it would likely only have a shadow on one of the buildings. I also wonder if you were to have the parachute closer to the viewer if that might create more visual impact.   Posted: 12/09/2024 03:32:19

Oh - I really LIKE this. The handling of the sky is wonderful to show off the plane and parachutes. The reflection of the large chute on the buildings facades is great. Even the definition in the chute is good. I wish the underside of the plane were the smallest bit lighter. I believe this would not be effective at all if it were in color. Great job.   Posted: 12/11/2024 17:34:37

Tom, You have done it again and produced an image that is not only technically competent but also thought-provoking in its visual story. I like the way that you have duplicated the building and flipped it horizontally to create the theatre backdrop against which the players (in this case the aircraft and parachutists) are performing. I like the way you have positioned the elements between the two buildings, though not sure about the perspective of the aircraft. I wondered whether the leading parachutist needed to be larger in the frame with perhaps his chute overlapping one of the buildings. I suspect you have positioned him as shown to match his reflection. I would like to have seen the next three parachutists not in line and of varying sizes. It is a pity that you have the same reflection on both buildings but that may have been deliberate on your part (which is fine) in order to increase the visual tension. I wondered if the image would be even stronger if you had used your 'Original' colour image in the same horizontal orientation with the players performing in monochrome. Having said all that, congratulations and well done on producing such an engaging image.   Posted: 12/13/2024 14:49:38
