About the Image(s)

This has been an interesting project started several months ago when I bought a pot and three miniature calla lily bulbs which I planted and put out on our deck. I now have blooms which I wanted to photograph in natural sunlight. I placed the pot elevated on a table so I would only have sky for a background. I then took a number of shots with a 100mm macro lens, varying what of the calla lily was in the frame, the f stop from f2.8 to f32, and the lighting from full sun to overcast. And I will take lots more variations in the days to come.
Choosing one camera raw image, I processed it in Camera Raw to what I thought was a pleasing image which you see here.
What do you think and what would you do differently?
Equipment: Canon R5, Canon 100mm f2.8 Lens, Tripod.

Nice positioning. A good treatment in post, the orange flower against the blue sky is very effective. I can't think of anything that would improve it.   Posted: 07/18/2024 20:35:18

Hi Henry, your choice of shooting the flower against the sky was a good one. The colours all work so well together. Consider lightning the shadows on the lower bloom to make it stand out from the greenery a little more. Great shot.   Posted: 07/20/2024 06:10:13

Julie, your idea of lightening the lower bloom is a good one but not so much that it takes away from the main bloom.

How does this look? I lightened the lower bloom a little but it doesn't really show in the posting.   Posted: 07/20/2024 16:03:10

Hi Henry, yes I do think that helps the bottom bloom stand out from the greenery. Well done.   Posted: 07/21/2024 11:18:38
