About the Image(s)
Here is a picture I took this morning around 7 o’clock while driving near Bishop California. The mountains rise above the valley floor, very striking. I took many photos with my Sony camera, but this one by my iPhone 18. What do you think about this photo?

Hey Ling Ling. I really like your image. I also really love the Eastern Sierra Mountains. I can't really put my finger on it, but the blue sky looks like the white balance is off. Sometimes Apple tries too hard. Did you have your phone set to Raw, because it makes all the difference in shots like this. If you haven't tried it, you have to. I thought of all the things you could do with this and the two I thought of was, getting rid of all the empty sky, and make it look a more Panorama feel. I then thought You might try paying homage to the master Photographer of the Sierra's (Ansel Adams) by making it Black and White. What ever you do, this is a very fine example of the area you were visiting. The foreground is very important in my opinion. Also, lots of mountains and desert going in different directions so the image seemed a little crooked.   Posted: 10/05/2026 00:09:28
Hi,Don,
Beautiful BW photo you did; so striking! I love it. You are so right about the sky!
Thank you so much! I learned a few more things from you again.   Posted: 10/05/2026 00:27:50

Hi Ling Ling - I was struck by the shadows from your morning light and - like Don - wondered what it would like in Black & White. Also agree with cropping the sky a bit. Your foreground adds some scale to the mountain range. Thanks for sharing this.   Posted: 10/05/2026 12:23:57
Hi Ling Ling, this is very beautiful! I agree with Don about cropping out most of the plain blue sky and adjusting the white balance since it seems a bit too yellow. You can adjust the white balance in Lightroom. I hadn't thought of changing it to black and white, but I love what Don did with your photo! Just like Ansel Adams!!! You might want to crop the tiniest bit off the left side where there are 2 small dark shadows in the closer mountains that appear to be cut off. The horizon appears to be slightly crooked.   Posted: 10/05/2026 17:18:58
