In 1923 a concrete suspension bridge was built about half way between the town I live in, and the next town to the West. Over the years, the bridge was covered with Graffiti and became a local attraction. I have visited the bridge occasionally over the last 42 years. I read an article that the bridge was going to be closed and the concrete was going to be sandblasted. The next morning, in the middle of an approaching storm, I decided to capture the artwork for maybe the last time. When I got there a crew was covering the bridge with tarps. I managed to capture most of the artwork. Rest In Peace, concrete canvas.
Shot with Nikon z with 28mm lens at f/11 @ 1/125 sec. Edited with Adobe Camera Raw, Photoshop, Nik Color Efex Pro, and Topaz DeNoise.

Hi Don. Graffiti is an interesting thing. In Adelaide we have a concrete bridge that spans over a road in the CBD. The underside of the bridge has been given over to the Graffiti artists long ago. Sometimes it is just tags, but often there is some beautiful artwork. I once spoke with someone who was painting something beautiful. It was about mid morning. I asked him how long he thought the painting would be there. He replied that he would be surprised if it was not painted over by midnight. Hi Don, very interesting story! Good capture just in time! You could play around with various crops from this image such as macros of portions of it. If you had captured the blue tarp next to the graffiti, it would've told a story about it. Posted: 08/05/2026 15:08:04

Hi Don - As first I wasn't sure what I was looking at, but the colors and the shapes do catch your eye. Without your write up, I would have wondered if it was a statement with graffiti covered concrete against the green trees in background. The texture and light of the background is a little distracting to me - I wonder if you can darken the trees just a tad if it would do anything to spotlight the graffiti a bit more?
