About the Image(s)
An action shot taken at a recent Rugby Union Football Club match between county teams. Unusually, a dry day - no rain but the light wasn't very good. Shot at 300mm (600mm FFE), f9, 1/640s, ISO 1600. I cropped, lightened the shadows, darkened the highlights and ran the image through Topaz Sharpen.

Hi Andrew, well done on achieving such an image on a day when the light was not your friend. Unfortunately, we don't see many faces nor the man at the bottom of the pack. All of the legs keep taking my attention as I try to work out who's foot belongs to who. (As an amusing panorama, showing just the legs would be interesting! lol )   Posted: 04/03/2026 10:25:33
Hi Andrew, Rugby looks like a brutal sport! I don't think it's played here in USA. You captured the moment well, nicely focused, great colors, well cropped. However, I agree with Julie that it'd be helpful to see their faces. Also, there's something strange going on with the clarity of the words on the left blue sign and the trees where parts are blurred and other parts are more in focus. I like Julie's suggestion about just showing the legs - it's very funny!   Posted: 04/04/2026 17:14:32
Hey Andrew. Well Done. I follow a photographer who shoots sports, even though I don't follow that part of his portfolio. He says in his sports photography class you need to see the ball and you need to see some action and it needs to be in the middle of a play, not before and not after. You have checked off all the boxes. I like that you can photograph cows at county fairs, trains, and sports. and beautiful landscapes. Well done.   Posted: 04/07/2026 23:50:23
