About the Image(s)
This was a shot of the side of the control tower at a WW2 airfield, now a museum near York. I thought the shadows interesting. I straightened the verticals and slightly cropped then adjusted the shadow detail.

Hey Andrew. Great image. I love shadows and cool textures. I adjusted the white balance and added some contrast and punched up the colors, which I really like. This is not one to convert to black and white (that has already been done a million times. The cool thing here is the colors. I punched up my holy trinity: Texture, Clarity, and Dehaze, and took some of the reflections out of the windows as they were keeping me from looking around. Super cool image.   Posted: 07/06/2025 21:31:57
I would prefer to leave the reflection but that's just me. Whatever, it hasn't done well in competitions.   Posted: 07/29/2025 12:41:38
Hi Andrew, good capture! Good eye! I like how Don increased contrast in the shadows and colors, etc. You may want to straighten the horizontals, too, just a tiny bit - especially the sidewalk-wall edge and the window. There are a few scratches in the paint where it's white, especially one in the bottom right, which could be removed.   Posted: 07/10/2025 15:34:36
I agree about the little marks on the paintwork   Posted: 07/29/2025 12:38:35
Hi Andrew, What a great shot! The colours work well together and I certainly would not go Monochrome with this one. I love the shadows giving us information that is not in the main features of the photo. The only thing I would suggest is trying to straighten the bottom of the tank and maybe darkening the paving a little as it is very light. The window to me seems straight, but the bottom line give the impression that things are crooked. Photoshop will be your friend here.   Posted: 07/17/2025 07:27:01
Agree, thanks   Posted: 07/29/2025 12:38:52
Well seen Andrew. I do like Don's idea of taking out the reflection on the window - it is distracting. Like the straight and curvy lines mixed together.   Posted: 07/17/2025 12:02:36
I am not sure about the reflection otherwise it's a bit flat for me but I take your point.   Posted: 07/29/2025 12:40:11
Andrew, I like the oblique line of the ladder and the contrast of shadows and highlights. I think the window is necessary to balance the image. There are some small, barely perceptible vertical lines which could be removed. Do you call this an abstraction?
