Baltimore Window Reflection by Catherine Honigsberg

March 2025 - Baltimore Window Reflection

About the Image(s)

This photo was taken in Baltimore Harbor and is reflected windows seen through another window. Shot at f/5, 1/200, ISO 100 at 165 mm. I like to try to capture abstracts from architecture.

Hey Catherine, Wow, you know I love Buildings and I love Abstract, so, I love your image. I think it is, in my opinion what you do best. I would not change a thing about your image except maybe the white balance. I warmed up the temperature and added a little texture and clarity. I love your image. Don't be afraid to crank those sliders and... you can always go back. Good Show.   Posted: 03/06/2025 23:59:34

Hi Catherine, I do enjoy architectural abstracts. The red frame seems to make lots of frames that show us different things. I'm wondering if a light vignette around the edges would highlight the central window to make it the hero of the image.   Posted: 03/14/2025 05:29:58

Good observation and well captured. I would be tempted to crop off the bricks on the left hand edge and the blue at the bottom so the margins are all red.   Posted: 03/22/2025 16:40:19

Catherine, really nice observation and capture on your part. The reflection is much better than a straight shot would be.

Don Hill had some good ideas for small improvements.   Posted: 03/22/2025 19:40:58

Hi Catherine, at first I couldn't figure out how you got your image - double exposures. Haha! It makes you think! Very clever! I think the red is dark enough so it doesn't draw attention away from the blues and brick in the reflection. Be careful on the bottom left along the left edge where a sliver of the window is showing. The red vertical line is a little crooked. Maybe if it's straightened, then the window that's "cut off" will disappear. You could brighten the entire image a little, but make sure the red isn't overpowering the reflected colors. (As a rule, the color red in images draws more attention than other colors.)   Posted: 03/26/2025 04:04:19

Cathene,
This is so clever! It makes you think what's going on… but I like the color contrast of red and blue.
You have some creative ideas, the results are always very interesting!
