About the Image(s)

I took this photo of a woman trying to stay dry but standing very close to the Skogafoss waterfall in Iceland. I thought it was really funny because it was very windy, and the water was blowing very hard away from the waterfall and towards us spectators. In fact, I believe her umbrella was broken. She could have backed up if she wanted to stay drier. I cropped, increased saturation of the woman, whitened the water, and removed a few rocks. You can compare with the original. Which crop do you like better, and would you crop differently if at all? Take at f/5, 1/100, ISO 200, 48mm.

Janice,
I like this waterfall..it's spectacular, though always had to contend with a crowd in front of it.
Actually I like the original picture; it shows the size of the fall, which is part of the awe factor. I took the liberty to make this a b/w photo. Do you like it?   Posted: 01/11/2025 23:52:10

Janice, I like the softness of the waterfall and I like the woman giving perspective along with her open umbrella which implies a wet mist.

I thought a different crop, including the top of the waterfall to show how tall it was. I did my crop but in doing so I lost the misty feeling of your crop. I think your crop is better. Great image!

Ah, now I see Ling Ling had the same idea.

I would like to see the top of the waterfall. It's a pity we can't see the woman's face, she appears as though she is just looking at her umbrella and ignoring the waterfall.   Posted: 01/17/2025 11:25:54

Thank you, everyone! It sounds like I should keep the top of the waterfall! And Ling Ling, I really like what you did by changing it to black and white! Thanks!   Posted: 01/20/2025 17:54:29
