About the Image(s)

I also like old boats. f13, 1/640, iso 640. It was of course a very bright day and I forgot to underexpose.

Catherine,
Nice image, got me thinking what it could be; what the white spots meant and your signature at a very interesting place. This could be a marketing poster?! I like the reflection of the boat; so peaceful.
The shadow above the green line puzzles me. Was it from another boat?!   Posted: 11/09/2024 21:53:06

Thanks Ling Ling. There is a shadow above the green light because there is an indentation in the bow of the boat. Part of the boat design.   Posted: 11/19/2024 17:15:43

Hey Catherine, I am a great fan of your abstract stuff. I know it is a boat, and I know it looks like a boat, but to me it has the qualities of an abstract painting. I decided to punch it up a bit. your image has a very subtle harbor feel and I like it just like it was. I imagined it if it had been painted. With maybe watercolors. you know me, I like to push things. Not everyone does, so your image is great like it is. Thanks for sharing and it's good to have you back.   Posted: 11/11/2024 03:27:04

Thanks Don! I am attracted to muted things and appreciate someone else seeing what I see differently with more color. I really like what you did with it.

Hi Catherine, this is a nice abstract. At first I didn't realize it was a boat. The water looks a little unnatural for some reason. I like what Don did to brighten/saturate the colors. It's interesting that the colors in the reflection are very different.   Posted: 11/17/2024 19:53:54

Hi Janice. No real processing done to the colors. I think the sun was low and the boat blocked it some in the reflection.   Posted: 11/19/2024 17:18:31

It's not very sharp. If there is no time pressure always worthwhile taking several shots, "chimping" and checking the parameters and trying different settings.
I took the liberty of straightening the waterline and cropping in the bow and its reflection into the corners, which I think is better. I think also adjust the other settings as Don has done.   Posted: 11/24/2024 10:50:13

Catherine, I am taken with the peacefulness of this image. And I like your signature. I like Don's sharpening of the colors but it misses the mystique of your version. You did a great job!   Posted: 11/25/2024 14:55:09
