This BMX biker was part of a demonstration for attendees at Unique Photo’s Expo in Fairfield, N.J., in early June. The riders rode onto a platform and then entered a small half-pipe to gain speed for jumps like this. Besides cropping, the major work on this was lightening the rider’s face and arms, through dodging. It was started in Lightroom for basic lighting, and then dodging in Photoshop. Topaz DeNoise and Sharpen were also used.

Wow, talk about capturing the peak of action. Excellent detail and sharpness. I'm curious if you have any more of the image below. If so, it would be cool to show the ground beneath him. Right now he seems to be floating in mid-air.

Thanks. Not possible to show the ground, unless you had drone shooting down. I had enough trouble avoiding the wires on the surrounding poles. Tough getting the bike and platform together in a shot without pulling back and getting a much smaller image. Posted: 07/20/2024 01:02:18

Bob: This image is extremely captivating for several reasons. First, just capturing an image of this magnitude is very difficult. The focus and clarity of the subject is certainly outstanding. Second, Thank you for giving us the background of all the "work" you did on this image to achieve the final outcome. Action shots are definitely not the easiest to secure.
