Bridge Lift on the Chicago River by Howard Frank

July 2026 - Bridge Lift on the Chicago River

About the Image(s)

Every spring and fall, boats that are stored at dry docks along the Chicago River are brought into the river from the lake. There are about 12 bridges that have to be lifted to allow the boats in. The boats group together as traffic is stopped and the bridges are lifted one by one. The bridge where the train is crossing in the background has just lowered to allow traffic to resume. Taken with my Nikon Z8 and 24 to 30mm lens at 1/300th sec, f/11 and ISO 800. Processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.
