This photo was taken in 2017 in Gampaha, Sri Lanka. The traditional New Year festival in Sri Lanka is very important, and every New Year festival is typically organized on a ground. However, the special feature of this New Year's Eve celebration was that all sports competitions were held in a muddy paddy field. This photo captures children playing in the mud??”a rare and exciting opportunity for them to have a lot of fun.

Really nice photo. Sharp and the expressions are wonderful. I might have completely desaturated the green over the one boy's head. It floats in space and makes no sense. The green on the boy is OK because I assume that's from Holi. Posted: 03/16/2025 06:45:55
