About the Image(s)
This photo was taken two years ago in Hokkaido, Japan. It was a cold winter month. We went to the Otowa Bridge in Hokkaido before sunrise to capture the red-crowned cranes in their natural habitat where they usually sleep on the river. In the winter, the snow and ice-covered trees around the river provide a picturesque backdrop for the birds to dance and fly. The camera settings are Sony a7rIII, Sony 200-400mm, 1/1250 sec, 485mm, f/6.3, ISO-100. In post-processing I cropped the image a half and added a little bit blue tone.

Peter: The softness within this photo along with the perfectly focused red-crowned cranes in the forefront makes for a beautiful image to the viewer. The combination of the white and blue reflects the cold temperature which sets the mood of the photo. A suggestion would be to crop the right side of the photo to where the capital letter in Cranes begins. Some might say, "the photo would not be balanced", but I think it would make for an interesting photo leaving questions unanswered. Love the photo!   Posted: 02/10/2025 19:56:35
This is a beautiful and professional image of a winter landscape. You have successfully used composition, lighting, sharpness and color to create an interesting and striking image. With a few simple adjustments in Photoshop, you can improve the image even more.
- Try using the Sharpen Tool to add extra sharpness to the birds and trees.
- If you want, you can crop the image to improve its composition. Try using the rule of thirds or the golden ratio to create a more interesting composition.   Posted: 02/12/2025 11:37:33
