About the Image(s)

I made this image a few days ago at a nature park. The coyote was behind fencing and was far enough away that I could shoot through the fence. Taken with my Nikon Z8 and Z 600 PF lens at 1/2500 sec, f / 6.3 and ISO 12,800. Processed with DXO Pure Raw 3 and light processing in Lightroom

Howard: There are so many positives to say about this image, I am not sure where to begin. The bokeh background certainly helps the coyote to stand out and give the image a sense of strength. The clarity and spot-on focus of the photo captures the eye of the viewer especially in the coyote's facial features. The coyote's eye beautifully depicts a range of emotions from steadfastness to sorrow. Thank you for sharing this beautiful image.   Posted: 02/10/2025 19:28:08

Your photo is very good technically and compositionally.
The frame is divided into two main parts: the subject and the background. The subject is placed in the center of the image, which gives it presence and centrality. The background is blurred, which emphasizes the subject.
The jackal's line of sight draws the eye to the right, beyond the image.
The only change I would make is to improve the composition by gently cropping according to the rule of thirds, which would emphasize the jackal's gaze, and add living space.   Posted: 02/14/2025 21:53:35
