About the Image(s)

The image was captured earlier this summer in my favourite valley, VÄtedalen, not far from where I used to live. It is inspired by the Norwegian landscape painter J.C. Dahl. I tried to create a national romantic look. like in old paintings. The post processing is done both in Lightroom and Photoshop. The colour corrections and dodge and burn are done in Photoshop while the global correction are done in Lightroom.

Camera: GFX 100S with Canon 70-300 mm lens at 70 mm
Settings: ISO: 100, 1/15 sec, f/16

I think the added touch of warmth makes this stand out. It was a nice editing touch. Did you create this by changing white balance or just by adding color? This has a feeling of vastness and at the same time being desolate. I really like the line of the river and how it is picked up by the valley between to two mountains. even though the scene is a bit warm, the river creates a touch of coolness, almost like a breeze wafting through the valley.

Since the cows are trying very hard to hide I feel this is mis titles. I'd prefer "A River Runs Through It."   Posted: 07/09/2024 18:27:36

Thank you for your comment, Larry. I have not used the white balance. The warm tone is added selectively, omitting the river and partly the sky.   Posted: 07/09/2024 20:24:15

What a great place to live. I think you converted a landscape scene into a piece of art by your color management. The haze on the far mountain gives the image a greater sense of depth. Like Larry, I have to search for the cows so a different title seems more appropriate. For me, it helps that the stream is flowing into the image rather than out of it to better lead my eye through the image.   Posted: 07/09/2024 22:46:00

What a breathtaking scenic view! For me, the warm earth tones create a calming atmosphere, while the rapids in the water inject a sense of dynamic energy. This location has the power to uplift anyone after a tough day. I love how the mountains frame the river, leading my eye through the valley and up to the sky. I also agree with the others regarding the title; the cows were not the first thing that caught my attention in the image. Excellent job with the editing!   Posted: 07/23/2024 15:39:57

I agree with Larry Arne, the warm tone makes a big favorable difference. I do see something in the darker clouds -ring like lines which I am not sure why. The square crop is very engaging.   Posted: 07/27/2024 11:10:20

This is a beautiful image. You did a good job with the edits. I like the warmth added. The river makes a really nice leading line into a balanced view as seen with the V between the two mountains at the back of the image. Nice depth the field.   Posted: 07/29/2024 14:44:40
