I photographed this scene from Pier one in NY back in 2023.
A friend and I set up our tripods on the rocks by the water and waited for the blue hr.
photo: Nikon Z09 with a 24-120mm f4 zoom lens @f4 ; iso 640; S 90" ; X10 ND filter ; Manual mode. Edit: expo correction ; 10% crop all around ; increased the tint slider +30 towards magenta.

This is one of my favorite views of New York. I am always amazed how different photographers capture this scene and make it their own. I especially like the simple and limited cool colors that create a mood that is mysterious, yet calm, and even a bit melancholic. Perfect time of day. You got the city alive. I like the effect of a long exposure on both clouds and water. Too bad the posts were not more to the left, but the leading lines still work and the trees on the right almost stay out of sight compared to the rest of the image. The dark spots on the water are a bit distracting to my eye. Partially submerged posts? Posted: 08/04/2026 19:40:29
Yes Partially submerged posts and Yes, had I moved more to the right, to have the posts more to the left, The trees and light posts and signs kill the composition.

Hi Adi. Got to love Brooklyn Bridge Park. I love the blue hour colors - the perfect time to capture the color and Manhattan lights. I'm used to seeing photos of this area with more trees and posts visible, but I like this composition because it gives it your own perspective. Nicely done with the long exposure. I love how this group is showing me so many wonderful places to photograph. I have never been here. That must have been very fun. Is that how it looked to your eye? Yes. realty was over saturated with sunset colors. Initially, I tried reflecting it as it was but then I reduced it to +30.

I really love the blue hour colors and the smooth water created by the long exposure, which also enhances the building lights. I think the increase in magenta was the right call, it really improves the atmosphere of this image. I see pilings on the left that appear to be submerged. Was that the case, or is that just an effect caused by the long exposure? Posted: 08/16/2026 18:34:44

Adi - the arc of your leading lines in the water continue in the cloud pattern above. The magenta is a nice contrast against the blue cast of sky and water. Your buildings are aligned and straight. The yellow glow from the windows adds a nice warm cast throughout the middle ground. I wish the trees weren't on the right side but still I feel that this is a stellar image!
