Frosty mornings in Oct always bring the best of landscape in the mountains of Transylvania.
This picture was a hard one. One hr climb on a steep hill in the dark and setting it all up before dawn. When the moment came I had 2 clicks and it was gone.... worthwhile the effort. This picture got multiple awards and was featured in catalogs, websites etc..
Nikon D700E with a Nikon 300mm lens + 25% crop @f11 ; iso 800 ; S 1/250 tripod and 2 ND filters X3 + graduated. Edit: brightness contrast and clarity.

I do like these minimalist images especially when paired with the fog. While I understand that the sun light is coming from the right the rays of light in the fog seem to be sweeping down hill from the left and creating a strong leading line toward the church. Using those ND filters really added a great deal of impact to the scene. I was surprised that the shutter speed was that fast.

Hi Adi. Definitely worth the effort for this shot - it's a real takeaway image. What can I say...it's a competition winner!! I love how the smoke rises from the church and how the rays lead to the church. The fog, soft blue sky and the hint of yellow in the foreground are all elements that add to this image.
