Description: This photo was captured in Mussoorie, India. I wanted to capture the architectural essence of the valley of Mussoorie. It is one of the most popular hilly tourist destinations of India. While capturing this photo, I could see the reflection of sun on one of the glass walls of one of the hotels in this valley. So, I captured it.
I did some global edits in Lightroom.

I feel the diagonal lines of the composition work well and there seems to be some interesting buildings. However I find the sun reflecting off the one building seems to be more of a distraction than a plus. I also feel the entire scene seems flat with a lot of muted and faded colors.   Posted: 03/11/2025 08:22:33
The reason I took this capture was the sun reflecting off one glass window of a building. In this area, there is seldom any building with a glass window, I wanted to show and capture that uniqueness. In fact, I also researched a bit as to why architects keep glass windows/doors these days in a building. I wanted to show all these elements in this picture.
About colours, I agree with you. I need to do some more editing with colours so that it doesn't look like muted and faded. Thanks for your feedback, Larry.   Posted: 03/21/2025 00:25:55

Hi Gokul. I like how the buildings are positioned on the side of the hill, surrounded by trees. On my screen, the photo has a green color cast on the buildings. It's possible that the green from the trees is reflecting on the buildings as the light hits them. Or, perhaps there's just a lack of magenta. I also like the concept of the reflected light on the building but for me, it would be more effective if the aperture was smaller - f16 or higher.   Posted: 03/13/2025 08:53:59
Hi Barbara, thanks for your comments. I was a newbie when I took this photo. So, my goal was to capture photos only with a large aperture. Hence, I ignored taking it with a small aperture like f11, f13 or f16 as you suggested. I would probably go back to this place one more time and try to capture it again.   Posted: 03/21/2025 00:29:07
I also like the strong diagonal lines across the composition While I think the sun reflection is a good idea, it does seem a bit overpowering to my eye. There does indeed seem to be a strong green tint, especially compared to the original file. Also to my eye, I think adding clarity would separate the buildings more. Overall an interesting composition though   Posted: 03/16/2025 11:59:02
As you suggested, Michael, I will do more editing to make it more interesting. I am glad that you liked the composition.   Posted: 03/21/2025 00:31:33
Hi Gokul - You've really captured the dramatic angles and diagonal cascade of the buildings across this scenic hillside. I wonder if the sun was shining through some fog or haze to create the overall green/yellowish cast ...? I created a sky mask in Lightroom Classic and adjusted the sky tone a little. I then created a feathered radial brush mask over the bright window reflection and toned down highlights & exposure a bit. I also lightened the overall exposure just a little and cropped the edges on both sides to focus more on the angles and diagonal cascade of the buildings across this scenic hillside in the early morning light.   Posted: 03/20/2025 20:19:31
Hi Grace, I liked the sky tone that you created.
To answer your question about the brightness of the sun, would say there was no fog that particular day if I remember it correctly.
I would try to replicate your edits and see if I create the same changes as I am not so well-versed in such detailed editing. Thank you for doing it.   Posted: 03/21/2025 00:36:36

I like the composition of this image, but the green cast is quite distracting. The photo also appears quite flat to my eye. I think playing around with the lighting would improve that. I'm pretty sure the latest versions of photoshop have a tool the removes a color cast.   Posted: 03/28/2025 21:19:04
I do agree with you. I need to explore photoshop more for my photography. Thanks for your feedback.   Posted: 03/29/2025 03:18:44
Hi G,
This is a great picture. My only comment to you is the white balance. It seems to me the picture is too yellow   Posted: 03/31/2025 14:20:33
