About the Image(s)

Twin Waterfalls

This is from one of the famous waterfalls on the west coast of Norway. It had been raining for several days, so there was plenty of water comming down. In this case, wanted the water to be sharp, so I used a short exposure. All post processing is done in Lightroom and is limited to some cropping and dodge and burn.

Camera: Fuji GFX 100S with Canon 24 mm TS lens
Settings: ISO: 800, 1/80 sec., f/16

I like your choice of shutter speed because it gives a real sense of the turbulence of the water. The rain/fog creates a real sense of moodiness which you retained in your processing. To me eye, the crop seems a little tight - I would have liked to see all the falls on the left and the merge of the two falls on bottom right.   Posted: 01/12/2025 18:09:48

Thank you for your comment, Michael. I agree about the cropping to the left, but this was a trade-off. There was a building that was not easy to clone out, so I decided to crop it out instead.   Posted: 01/12/2025 20:46:25

I'm a firm believer in the adage that bad weather makes good pictures and this foggy, cloudy and semi-dark image just proves my point. I love the turbulent waters (and the shutter speed used to get this effect). The muted greens also add to the mood. However, as Michael noted, the first thing I saw/felt was that the crop is too tight. I would like a river bank on the left to enclose the river and a bit move space at the bottom   Posted: 01/12/2025 18:37:05

I agree with Michael and Larry. Composition wise I would have liked to see the twin waterfalls more prominently: probably by capturing photos from further right. I liked foggy and cloudy nature.   Posted: 01/19/2025 10:04:07

Hi Arnie. The rugged mountainous terrain compliments the swift, turbulent waters of the falls. Good choice with keeping the fast moving water. The soft greens, fog, and the powerful waterfall work well together. I particularly appreciate how the 2 falls are divided by the rock formation in the center. While I wish there was a bit more of the waterfall on the left side of the frame, its still a beautiful image.   Posted: 01/19/2025 16:52:03

Very nicely done and composed. My only thought is in regards the top right hand side - something in the edit seems out of balance to me.   Posted: 01/20/2025 23:23:54
