Last month, while returning home from the Smoky Mountains, most of the fall foliage was gone except for one stretch of road that displayed vibrant colors. What drew my attention to the area wasn’t the color but the unique curve of a tree near the side of the road. Luckily there was a pull-off near the tree so I could stop and take a photo. I wanted the tree’s curve to directly face me and only showcase the mountains as background. However, due to positioning, a small portion of sky ended up in the frame. I performed basic edits in Lightroom and used Photoshop’s content aware to remove the unwanted sky. I also added a soft glow and vignette to enhance the mood and increase the overall contrast and saturation.

I would call it The Dancing Lady Tree. It is graceful and elegant. So still yet moving. very artistic presentation and a beautiful composition.   Posted: 12/12/2024 03:56:06

Over the last few years I have come to appreciate the fall color when it is just past peak. The leaves have greater range of tones and thus greater character. To me that is the beauty of the scene. It all about the contrast between the blacks and the golds. I also like the way, at least to my eyes, the entire tree, leaves and all seem to be isolated.   Posted: 12/13/2024 21:28:40

The way you took and processed this image gives it almost a 3D feel - nicely done. It appears you did a slight vignette which highlights the main subject tree and moves the rest into the background. I like the darker bottom part of the image. I have no suggestions to improve this image. A winner   Posted: 12/13/2024 23:11:53
