December 2024 - Dismal Swamp

About the Image(s)

I wanted to visit the Palace for some time and finally I had the chance last month.
Interesting - yes but not so much. Only 4 trees and one access point on a pier.
So I came early in the morning, went in the water, set up the tripod and tried making lemonade from the lemons.
The edit is removal of a few spots in the water and on the lens, increase of vibrance, Dehaze, and cropped a bit (15% all around) as the trees were too far . I removed a branch sticking up from the water.
This picture is posted in different variations in all 3 groups I attend: 83, 36, 19
Nikon z9 ; 24-120 mm f4 zoom @f22 ; S 1/4 ; 50 iso ; Aperture Priority ; Tripod

OK. Immediate first impresions result in the opinion you should take the image you posted in group 83 and post it here. The image in group 83 is really stunning. I suggest everyone take a look at it.

The images, both this one and the one in group 83 remind me of Blue Cypress Lake here in Florida except our trees are much thicker. I feel the color strikes an interesting mood but personally I'm not a fan of the "bans" of color. But that is a maker's choice.   Posted: 12/08/2024 14:07:02

Thanks L,
The bans were just there at sunrise:)   Posted: 12/08/2024 14:26:19

I love the color in this one but also liked the B/W in Group 83. I did not notice the bands of color until I saw Larry's comment. My eye just blended them together. As Larry said, this is a maker's choice. For me, the brushy clump and scrawny tree balance each other. If it were my image, I would crop in some from the left to place the major tree in the middle of the image. The area behind the trees is much brighter so I presume you may have darkened the water with a brush. Great time of day, and you maximized the color to make a beautiful image.   Posted: 12/13/2024 23:36:56
