A Foggy Autumn Path by Barbara Gore

November 2024 - A Foggy Autumn Path

About the Image(s)

This photo was captured during hike on one segment of the Mountains-to-Sea trails in the Pisgah National Forest a few autumns ago. I planned the hike and decided to bring my camera along hoping to capture any sights that caught my attention.
The colors and fog on the trail did not disappoint. Most of the editing was done in Lightroom using various masking to dodge and burn and adjust colors and brightness to specific areas. For cloning out a distraction I used PS as I find Lightroom is ineffective when blending.

Looks like you are traveling off the beaten path on a misty morning. I can almost feel the mist on my face. The mist even adds a bit of mystery. While I like the scene I wonder if a bit more saturation might work?   Posted: 11/14/2024 21:46:05

Thanks for you comments Larry. I do have a few other photos that are more saturated.   Posted: 11/29/2024 14:01:47

I love the subtle color palette and the path going into the fog. For me, I think a slightly wider angle would have picked up the rest of the path; it feels truncated to me. If I were really picky I would remove the tree limb in the upper right and the heavy section of the branch in the upper part of the tree. Overall, a very enjoyable image that could hang in a medical building to give a sense of peach.   Posted: 11/14/2024 22:56:50

Thanks for your comments Michael. Regarding the path, unfortunately, there would have been too many distracting branches in the frame if I had moved more to the right. I agree with your comment about the branch at the top.   Posted: 11/29/2024 14:22:12

The fog made this image, it creates calmness in the scene. Although I like it as it is, I would suggest to crop it from the top to 4:5 or 5:7 in order to emphasise on the path and the foggy mood.   Posted: 11/24/2024 06:44:01

Very nice B it is very mysterious. The over exposure does not bother at all in fact it compliments the picture.
