About the Image(s)
This piece began as an infrared capture on the University of Tennessee campus in Knoxville. Shot with a Nikon D70s (internally converted to 720nm), the original image utilized the classic 18-70mm kit lens to pull out the surreal "Wood Effect" where foliage reflects near-infrared light as a ghostly white.
The final artwork is a step-and-repeat composite created through a meticulous post-processing workflow in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. After an initial color swap and tonal adjustment to move from the raw crimson of the 720nm sensor to these deep, electric magentas, I utilized a recursive transformation technique. By duplicating and incrementally rotating and scaling the light fixture, I transformed a static piece of campus architecture into a rhythmic, spiral form??”blending the mechanical geometry of the street lamps with the organic flow of a Fibonacci sequence.
