About the Image(s)

On our way back from the trip on the houseboat, we had an un-expected additional night stop over in the NSW country town of Cowra. This town has a historic connection to World War 2, as there were a number of Japanese prisoners housed there towards the end of the war. The Japanese Gardens are a great tourist attraction in the town and make a good location for infrared photography. Details are: Nikon D200; Nikon 24mm lens; ISO 100; F11; 1/90 and hand held. Processed in PS with sharpening and noise reduction applied in Topaz Photo.

This photo has so much to see. I really like the winding path that leads the eye to the background of trees and the sky with fluffy little clouds. Infrared does a great job of detail on the trees. This is well focused, and I am finding a lot of balance. At first I wondered about the rock in the lower left corner, but then realized it is balanced by the larger rock in the middle left and there is a triangle with the rock farther down the path. With the bridge and small pagoda structure you realize it is a Japanese garden. Well done.   Posted: 04/06/2026 17:54:20
