About the Image(s)

We had a small air show here in Cincinnati a few weeks ago. The main aircraft to look at was a C-47 named That's All Brother.

Historical Significance:
D-Day Mission:
"That's All, Brother" was the lead aircraft of the main airborne invasion on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

It carried paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division, including elements of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment.

Piloted by Lt. Col. John M. Donalson, this aircraft led over 800 C-47s that dropped over 13,000 paratroopers into Normandy ahead of the beach landings.

Name Origin:
The name "That's All, Brother" was a personal message to Adolf Hitler, signaling that his reign was about to end.

Other Missions:
After D-Day, the aircraft participated in other major operations such as:

Operation Market Garden

Battle of the Bulge (resupply at Bastogne)

Operation Varsity (crossing the Rhine into Germany)

Shot with my Olympus EM1 Mark III with the 12-100 lens 590nm camera. 1/320 sec, f4.5, ISO 200. I made this in IR because I liked the dark sky and reflections from the rain. I cloned out a few people. Used Lightroom and Photoshop.

What a wonderful portrait of the fighter jet. You captured it well-including the bit of reflection. A meaningful story behind this craft as well.   Posted: 07/24/2025 00:44:01

A fine image Nelson, well captured and processed. A very minor detail though and it's just one of those things that when I see it, I can't unsee it. You did well cloning out the people, but seem to have left the reflections of the two people under the wing, their legs are still visible.   Posted: 07/24/2025 22:02:29

Thanks, I didn't notice the people reflections. I'll have a look at it.   Posted: 07/28/2025 13:53:13

This is a very eyecatching dramatic picture! If something needs to be altered, I would have cropped 1/4 of the foreground away, even if the wet reflections are nice, in order to bring the aircraft and dramatic sky more together. A handsome capture!   Posted: 07/28/2025 14:48:03
