This month's pic is taken at midsummer a few days ago. A whooper swan family on the lake. The large whooper swan is the Eurasian counterpart of the American trumpeter swan. It is the national bird of Finland. The species were near extinction after the WW2 but nowadays very common in this area of Eastern Finland. This photo was taken with my converted Sony Nex-5 and a vintage Novoflex Noflexar 5.6/400mm. I have a large collection of classic cameras, which I have used in photography, too, developing the films myself for scanning. My vintage lens collection is even bigger, and I have converted almost everything to be used with digital cameras. Now I tried this Novoflex for IR (720nm) even if the weather was not too suitable.

Love the subject matter here, Tatu. What a great capture to have the whole family, protected in-between the mom and dad. The linear movement in the image is wonderful-horizontal and vertical lines echoing the swans lines as well. I would like to see this focused as the swans are blurry.   Posted: 07/24/2025 00:41:17

A great image Tatu. Your processing and cropping from your original is very good and forces us to focus on the family of swans. I agree with Debbie, they seem a little soft in focus.   Posted: 07/24/2025 22:18:17

Very nice image. Looks like you have all your ducks in a row (Swans) I might try a bit of clarity or texture to sharpen a little more.   Posted: 07/28/2025 13:51:05
