About the Image(s)

Taken with my converted Z 7 camera, 24-120mm f/4 S, ISO 120, f/11, 1/200 sec. This shack is on one of my routes that I take. I stopped by the side of the road and a man came up behind me asking what I was doing, as he could not believe that it was ‘picture worthy’. I wanted the steely grey to stand out against the whites.

Definitely picture worthy, some people can't see that. I am wondering if the subject here is the shack or the landscape? Something to play with is trying a portrait of the shack with the leading lines of the lighter trees coming down to it.   Posted: 03/12/2025 14:36:21

Yes, definitely picture worthy Debbie. It is your image and you are free to take and present it anyway you choose, but can I ask a few questions please? That empty dirt are in the foreground, is it necessary for this image to work? Could it be cropped out and the image be made a little pano? Or could it be taken from a slightly lower point of view to reduce the empty area, bending the knees if possible, for example? I'm just thinking out loud.   Posted: 03/24/2025 22:23:09

Thank you, Lauren and Ian. The picture is the shack in the middle of the desolate landscaping. I included it all, but as Ian suggested, 'some' of the foreground could be cropped out. I would not want to crop out all of the dirt because it is part of the shack's setting as I thought the mountains were. If I were to crop out the sky, the beautiful mountain scape which I loved, would be gone. My whole purpose of the image is to emphasize the little shack (that the owner said would remain) in the midst of no other form of civilization. it drew me in every time I passed its way. Thank you both for your suggestions-always welcome and makes me think!   Posted: 03/25/2025 00:15:20
