About the Image(s)

I had so much fun creating the plant-based butterfly last month, I decided to try another version. I’m a fan of Steampunk art and my husband collects old clocks, so I have access to odds and ends parts to photograph. I started with the brass plate in Original 1 because it sort of looked like a wing. I tweaked it with PS distort to get it closer to the wing shape I used last month. Then it was just a matter of using the various clock parts and a wrought-iron doormat to fashion my creature. It was hard to keep all the many layers organized, so I used a lot of groups, which helped a bit, but still challenging. I then tinted the edges with a blue brush, added a few black dots here and there, and used PS poster edges and oil paint on the flattened result. Lastly, I added a thin brown border.
